At approximately 9:17am UK local time, we started receiving network status reports from our BOL23 datacentre indicating an issue with connectivity.
We quickly identified this as a dual fan failure in switch DS-178 which caused it to shutdown after 60 seconds to prevent an overheat condition. This affected connectivity on and beneath this switch.
This switch is part of our legacy network which is scheduled to be decommissioned during 2024. Rather than repair this switch, we have bypassed it and migrated any direct connect ports to our newer Nexus-based switch network.
Connectivity was restored around 9:40am.
This did not affect connections to our newer Nexus-based switch network, nor connectivity in BOL8 datacentre (with a few minor exceptions)
We will expedite the migration from the older network.
