We have received notification today that VirginMedia have scheduled planned maintenance for 7th September from 00:01 to 06:01 with an expected actual outage time of 90 minutes.
This is required for them to upgrade processor modules in their network node in Manchester “due to obsolescence”.
This will affect our metro ethernet fibre link between BOL8 and MA2 datacentres. Our metro ethernet network will automatically re-route via alternate paths and no outage is expected.
We have 3 separate fibre interlinks between our Bolton and Manchester datacentres, delivered via different carriers.
This maintenance may be due to our pending upgrade request as they have detailed that their Manchester node requires a capacity upgrade in order to deliver our replacement circuit.
